Going to India (Kerala) with a ONE year old!!!

0

I knew the time would come where we would have to take our baby to India so that hubby’s side could meet our little blessing. I’m not going to lie but this mama was definitely scared because of all the stories I have heard from other moms. At the same time, I knew this was something that was going to happen regardless.

On top of that, our trip to India was not planned. Hubby got a week approved from work and called and told me that we would be going to India in less than five days. I was like are you kidding me because of course we have a baby and its not like I have enough time to plan everything. Therefore, I called the pediatrician saying that we are going to India with Mia and he told me about getting electrolytes just incase she has diarehia.

The one thing he told me that stuck to me was that since you are only going for a week, take all package food from here. This way, you do not have to worry about Mia getting sick since it is only a week. Honestly, I thought that was a great idea because why take a chance. When I told the hubby he was like I think it is fine if she eats homemade food but I was like I’ll deal with this battle once we get there.

A lot of moms told me not to give her the milk from India since it is straight out of a cow…lets be real, it is super organic but it is what got a lot of their babies sick. Therefore, I bought Anchor milk powder and it was magic!!!

Baby girl loved the milk since it was sweet. I actually carried one of the similac measurement cup since I didn’t know if this milk powder had a measurement cup in it. I am so thankful I carried it because the milk powder did not have one. I ordered the milk powder from Amazon and we got two 2lbs cans , which was perfect!!!

For the most part, Mia ate everything that I brought with me like cheerios, puffs, pouches, and cookies. In the morning though, we gave her a whole banana and then lunch and dinner was a pouch. I basically carried two pouches a day since I knew I would be giving her a whole banana for breakfast.

We were visiting India at the same time hubby’s parents were there. Therefore, there were days when his mom wanted to give her rice and curries. I wasn’t a fan of it but hubby would let me feed her. So that made me feel more comfortable since I knew how much I was giving her and it wasn’t much because I didn’t want to take a chance.

Honestly, I would say if you are only going to go to India for a week or two with a baby younger than two years, I would say pack all the food! Yes, it may be a struggle to carry an extra luggage but to deal with a sick baby in an environment that you are not too sure about is worse!!!

It is safe to say we had a great time in India because we knew our baby girl was fine. I know the hubby was super happy that she got to meet her great grandma. Hubby grew up with his grandma and has all these memories of growing up with her. Therefore, I’m positive that moment of Mia meeting his grandma is a moment he will cherish forever!!!

Have you gone to India with a two year old or younger? How was your experience?
