Mia’s Cake Smash!!!

#CakeSmash #1stBirthday

My little girl is turning ONE and I knew exactly where I wanted to do the pictures. As soon as I knew my family photographer was available, I told the hubby about my idea. I told him that we will be doing the cake smash pictures on this day, at this place, and you have to wear what you wore for the maternity shoot last year.

My hubby has lived in America for 10 plus years but there are some traditions that he still has no idea about. Cake smash was one of those traditions which he didn’t understand. Therefore, I explained it to him and he was on board. In all honesty though, I don’t think he had a choice since he knew I really wanted to do it and our photographer was already on board too…hehehe!😇 Love you hubby!!!

Okay, before we go any further, let me explain what a cake smash is for anyone else who may not know what it is. Basically, when your baby is about to turn one, you get a cake and you let your baby do whatever they want to do. He/she can get as messy as they want or he/she can get as curious as they want. I would say Mia was more on the curious side instead of the messy side and this mama is definitely not complaining…lol😜 Also, during this time, you have someone taking pictures of these adorable moments. Believe me, it really is the cutest thing ever but you tell me!!!😍

On the day-of, our photographer told me where to setup and I did accordingly. It was a public area so I wanted to make sure it didn’t get too messy. First, I put three white towels on the ground. Then, a white blanket on top of it. From there, I put the box that I covered with a pink table cloth from the dollar store. We put the cake on top of that because I knew there was no way my girl was going to sit for this session. I’m so glad I thought about it because she stood the whole time…lol Once our photographer gave us the cue, we let her do her thing!!! 😍

I ordered the cake from the bakery at Target. I told them that I wanted a white cake with pink boarder. I also asked them to put a “1” on top which they did.

Mia’s outfit details…
The top is from Target
The birthday hat, bib, and skirt are from Party City
The hair tie is from Kroger
The socks are from Babies “R” Us
The balloon was from Party City.
