The Plane Ride to India with a One Year Old!!!

Our flight from Houston to Dubai was at 6:30pm. I believe we were in the air around 7:15 pm/7:20 pm. As soon as take off took place, I gave Mia milk. After giving her milk, she played with her toys for about two hours. It was at 9:30pm when she fell asleep and she slept for about six hours and we decided to sleep during that time too.

Once she woke up, hubby kept her so that I could sleep a little longer. Basically the remaining six hours Mia was either watching cartoons, playing with her toys, and of course eating away.

We were sitting in the front where the airline could put the bassinet for her to sleep on. Baby girl was too big for the bassinet so we couldn’t put her on that. At the same time, because of the extra leg space, we would let her walk around in that little area from one side to the other whenever she wanted to stretch. This was awesome because she never cried about not being able to walk. We definitely did not need to hold her and walk around the plane so that was awesome!!!

Over all, I would say, if you plan on going on a plane ride for more than ten hours with a one year old, make sure your baby is comfortable one. I would recommend the following…

  1. Keep baby in comfortable clothes that are easy for diaper change.
  2. Carry a lot of snacks.
  3. Carry a bunch of baby’s favorite toys but don’t give them all at once. Give one toy at a time so that when baby gets bored, you can give him/her the next one.
  4. I would definitely recommend getting the seat with the extra leg space in the front. This way, you can let baby sleep on the bassinet if you want otherwise use the extra leg space for baby to sit and play.

Have you travelled on a flight with a one-year for more than ten hours? If yes, is there anything you would add to this list, let me know!!!

-XOXO-
