Mia’s Gender Reveal

0

Hello, hello, hello!!!

This weekend, we will be finding out the gender of baby M!!! I’m super excited even though we won’t be doing it the way I initially imagined it. Therefore, I decided this week’s blog post should be about Mia’s gender reveal.

As you know, I had a D&C and then three months later I was pregnant again. The heartbeat wasn’t strong enough so our doctor recommended that we didn’t share the news just yet. At the same time, I wasn’t planning on sharing the news with anyone because I was just too scared. I think after going through a miscarriage, you just rob yourself from any happy thoughts about being pregnant again. This is exactly what I did to myself because I was just too scared to talk about anything related to pregnancy to anyone.

Honestly, I think it was my girls that kept reminding me to celebrate and be happy. I’m telling you, once you find those friends that cheer you up and want to truly see you happy, don’t let them go!!! I am forever grateful for my girls and could not do this life without them!!!

I finally decided to do a gender reveal party for my man and our friends and families. This way, it would be a special moment for everyone especially for my man!!! It truly was sooo much better than I could ever imagine!!!

Ever since I knew my husband, he always played baseball on Sundays. He was basically in a baseball league. Therefore, every Sunday if I was free, I would go watch him play. I continued to do this even after we got married. Therefore, I decided I wanted to do a baseball themed gender reveal.

The day the doctor wrote the gender down on a piece of paper. He put it in an envelope and I literally went to one of my girls who was at work and met her at the lobby. I gave her the envelope and she got the ball and filled it with the powder for the gender reveal.

On the day of the reveal (Sunday, December 10, 2017), I rented out a pavilion at a park and ordered food from Fuddruckers. We had water and assorted sodas for everyone. All in all, we had about 60 people there. Initially as friends and families were coming, I asked them to write down a boy name or a girl name depending on which they thought we were having. I also asked them to let us know if they were TEAM GIRL or TEAM BOY. After that, I would tell them to make their burgers, grab a bag of chips, and eat away. Once the majority ate, we asked everyone to stand on one side and we were on the other side. Also, we did have a photographer to capture this special moment.

I think everyone counted down from ten but honestly I do not remember. I was sooo excited and nervous to find out what we were going to have!!! I heard “one” and I threw the ball and hubby hit it. The pink powder was everywhere and I was like “OMGGG, we are having a GIRL!!!” Funny thing is at that moment; I knew exactly what we were going to name her…hehehehe!!!

The next few minutes everyone was hugging and congratulating us. We took pictures with everyone one by one. We cut a cake before everyone left so that the kids had something sweet to eat and of course me too!!!

It truly was a special moment and I am sooo happy we did a gender reveal. I can hands down say it was when I saw the pink powder I was like “OMG…this is really happening!!!” I’m about to be a mom to a girl and every movement since then was even more special. Therefore, because of that special feeling, I wanted to do the same thing this time around. Hence, I decided I would wait it out but the cases in Houston, Texas is going higher and higher. Finally, when the park called me saying that they have no plans to open the pavilions for any private event any time soon, I decided I needed a back up plan. Therefore, this Saturday will be PLAN B. It definitely won’t be the same but I’m super excited to find out with hubby and baby girl…can’t wait!!!

Any guesses on what you think we are having?

-XOXO-
