The Flu!!!

0

As we left for Fort Lauderdale, the hubby was feeling under the weather for the most part. The next day, I woke up not feeling good either. Mia start coughing like crazy. The hubby wanted to make sure we didn’t have strep since Mia was coughing a lot.

We went to check to see if we had strep but came back positive for Flu A. The doctor was like you two don’t have strep but you two do have the flu. She was able to prescribe us with medicine but not for Mia. She was like since you all are visiting you would need to take her to the ER so that they can write you the dosage for our baby.

Keep in mind, we are all not feeling good and trying to do anything was near impossible. At the same time, as soon as we got our meds, we went to the ER for Mia. The first ER we went to said that they only see 18 months and older. Of course, this would be our luck so we asked them where we should go. The front desk was very helpful and told us to go to a particular ER.

I made the hubby call them to make sure that they do take in 9 month olds. He said that they did and we headed over there. As soon as we got there, the Uber driver was like I don’t think they are open. The hubby went to double check and of course they were closed. At this point, this mama was definitely loosing her patience like OMGGG…my poor baby should be resting instead we are running around for an ER. Lets be real, we all should be resting instead of running around trying to find a ER.

We started googling to see if we could find one and I was able to find one. I definitely asked if they would be open for the next one hour and if they saw nine month olds and they said yes to both. Our uber driver started heading that way and once we got there, we checked in and waited for the nurse to call us.

They took us to a room and checked on Mia. The nurse said that she had a fever and gave her Motrin to try to break the fever. She said that most likely the doctor would let us leave tonight itself after letting you know what dosages you will need to give Mia. I was like great because we really just want to go back and sleep. The doctor and a different nurse came to check on Mia and the doctor wanted to do a chest x-ray and the husband was like okay. At the same time, I was like excuse me that is not happening. One my baby is not even one years old and two my child is perfectly fine with God’s Grace. I made it very clear that we were not going to do any X-rays and we just want the dosage for the Motrin and Tylenol since our baby girl had a fever.

I am definitely not a doctor or even in the medical field but I knew my daughter was fine. Was she uncomfortable, definitely! Why, because she had a fever! Oh and the doctor did come back and say you were right, we don’t need to do an X-ray since she is only nine months. I just looked at my husband and was like lets just get the dosage so that we can leave.

I’m not going to lie but being sick when the whole family is sick is very tiring. We really didn’t do anything besides stay in our hotel room and just sleep. I’m just glad I had the hubby around so that we were taking turns to watch our baby girl because like I said being sick when everyone is sick is nooo bueno!!!I can honestly say though I’m just happy we are all 100%. I did tell the hubby though, the next time he gets sick, he is definitely not staying with Mia or I…lol…even though I’m laughing, I’m definitely not kidding!!! :p
